Adolescents Initiative for Reform (A.I.R) Executive Committee Leads

About A.I.R

The Adolescents Initiative for Reform (AIR) is an adolescent-led group that was founded from a Leap Girl Africa project funded by the HERVOICE Fund. This group has as objective to improve girl’s access to information about their SRHR, train and strengthen their capacity between the ages of 12-19 to influence SRHR, SGBV and HIV/AIDs biased and discriminatory laws/policy that excludes us in the implementation processes.

It is has been a year since we elected our executive members and it is time to renew the team. The following Executive Committee Leads are open:

  1. Sexual and Gender Based Violence
  2. Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights and HIV
  3. Girls Education and Leadership

Eligibility Criteria

  • Be a Cameroonian
  • Be under 18 years
  • Speaks English and French
  • Be passionate about change and open to diversity
  • Be a leader
  • Indigenous girls, adolescent boys, adolescent living with HIV and adolescents living with a disability are highly recommended to apply.

What will be my role?

  • The committee leads will help ensure adolescents and youth are actively participating in decisions making of the group.
  • They will help members understand the issues Adolescents and youths are facing, so together they can better address them in the group’s activities, advocacy, and national programming.
  • Beyond the AIR Group, the leads will work toward ensuring adolescents and youth are involved in decision-making mechanisms, and are represented in all levels.
  • The leads will provide a bridge between stakeholders and adolescents and as well as a platform for putting forward adolescent and youth ideas, opinions, and perspectives.
  • The Leads will assist the coordinator to attain the mission of the group.

How will I be supported in my role?

  • The Leads will receive mentorship, coaching, and support from Leap Girl Africa and other feminist leaders.
  • This role will provide leads the opportunity to:
  • 1. Increase knowledge on ASRHR and HIV programming and where to find ASRHR information
  • 2. Network with other humanitarian organizations, youth-led and community-based organizations, and youth networks
  • 3. Gain experience
  • 4. Develop and strengthen leadership, presentation, training, and communication skills

What is the time commitment?

  • Leads will be expected to engage with AIR activities on an average of 1-2 hours per week, with some weeks or months requiring more time around events.
  • Leads will serve in their role for a period of twelve (12) months.

Is this a paid position?
No

These are volunteer positions and the above tasks represent significant in-kind contributions to the Adolescents Initiative for Reform. However, each Executive committee member will receive an honorarium of 200USD at the end of the 12 months.
